THE DOG-OWNER CONNECTION deals comprehensively with solving and preventing behavior problems, which range from the simple to the most complex and perplexing. We service not only Cleveland and Northeast Ohio but also New York, Pennsylvania and other states. We also provide educational seminars and workshops for veterinarians and their staff, trainers and professionals who work with dogs, breed clubs and dog lovers. Owner, Karen Arnoff, has created a specific diagnostic model to look at all possible sources of a problem which increases the likelihood for long-term success.

In the 1970s, Karen created and conducted a set of training courses under the name OBEDIENCE PLUS, which included “clicker training” and exercises to prevent aggression. In 2010, she discontinued group classes to focus solely on her specialty, diagnosing and treating behavior problems. She has over 45 years of unsurpassed experience, education and success with dogs. She has also successfully consulted on dog-related legal/forensic cases.

We hope you will review the various elements of this site to learn how THE DOG-OWNER CONNECTION can be of service to you.

The Arnoff Philosophy

We believe that we, as humans, choose to adopt dogs into our families, and thus are responsible for helping them make a successful adjustment to our world. We must earn their trust and respect by establishing a relationship in which our dogs are bonded to us and happy to follow us as their pack leader. In doing so, we create an "invisible leash" that keeps them with us, learning from us and wanting to please us. And, if there is a behavior problem, we must correct the cause of the problem — not the dog.
